Find out what we have been up to lately...

Collecting Christmas trees!

Last weekend we collected lots of Christmas trees around the Maldon and Chelmsford
districts. All trees were being collected and recycled in aid of Farleigh Hospice. Well
done to everyone who signed up and donated their tree, volunteered and helped -  Farleigh Hospice rasied an enormous £37,500 this year!!!

Throughout July our team walked/ ran 737 miles! We smashed our target of 635!! A huge well done to our team, not an easy challenge. We had personal targets to reach, which proved challenging - especially at the end! We counted our steps continuously, even on holiday - extra beach walks!!
The best news of all is that we have raised £140 for St Helena Hospice so far... we will be continuing to fundraise through the Summer. Thank you to all those who have supported us and donated.

We will be walking/ running 635 miles in July in aid of St Helena Hospice!

As you may know, we have taken part in the Birkett Long £50 Challenge in the last two years. This year we decided to set some personal challenges - as a team we will be walking/ running a total of 635 miles in July!
Mr O, Mark, Jack and Simon will be walking 150 miles each, Louise (who is NOT a runner) will be running 25 miles, and our youngest team member Paddy, who is 12, will be walking 10 miles. We would really appreciate any donations which will go directly to St Helena Hospice - such a worthy cause. Our donations page can be found here, along wth updates of ou progress - don't forget to keep checking our Facebook page for updates and photos too!

What a busy start to the Summer!

During May and June we have been busier than ever! As we recently expanded by purchasing another van, we also recruited a new member of staff. This has enabled us to accomodate more moves each week.

Moves don't always go to plan... a couple of weeks ago the team loaded 3 Luton vans one Friday morning, travelled to the new property. After waiting for 6 hours, the customer was told that they couldn't exchange or complete that day. The team then had to travel back to the original house and unload the vans that they had loaded that morning! Unfortunately it was (typically!) a Bank Holiday weekend, which meant the customer couldn't sort it out until the following Tuesday. We managed to move them during that week. The customer praised our team for their patience and calm manner. Well done team.

The whole team recently travelled to Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire, very picturesque!

We have recently signed up to the Birkett Long £50 Challenge, we are currently arranging how we will fundraise and turn that £50 into lots more for St Helena Hospice ... details coming soon!

Happy Birthday to us!

We are delighted that April marks our 7th year in business! Thank you to all customers past and present, and to all who have worked with us and supported us through the years... here's to many more successful years to come!

We hope you all had a lovely Easter. We were finishing off a large 4 day move to Frinton-on-sea on Good Friday, and lots of quotes on Saturday. We did enjoy a lovely sunny Easter Sunday and Monday with our children though :)

We have been moving customers all over Essex - including the lovely sunny spots like Mersea and Frinton! We also moved a customer from Chelmsford all the way to Oxfordshire recently. We even emptied out a very old cellar in an old property in Coggeshall - spiders everywhere!!!

We are pleased to announce that we will be taking part in the Birkett Long £50 Challenge in aid of St Helena Hospice, for the third year running, this summer. In 2017 we raised £275 at a Cream Tea event, and last year we raised £200 at a Wine Tasting evening. I wonder what event we could hold this year... keep checking back for more details soon ...

Smart fleet!

Check out our photo of all our vans together on the Gallery page. We have been working hard to get them all painted, and signed. Don't they look smart! We are very proud of our fleet, as it shows how much we have grown in 7 years of business. Just to think that Richard started the business with one purple van! You can do anything when you put your mind to it. We are extremely proud of the business we have built.

On another note, we have recently received our Bronze Certificate for completing the iDEA programme online. This programme was founded by the Duke of York, and helps develop digital and enterprise skills,  by completing a variety of different modules. Onto the Silver award next ...

March 2019 was the busiest March we have ever had in 7 years! Lots of lovely customers moving into their new homes, mostly in and around Essex. April is looking busy too, here's to moving people in the Spring sunshine (fingers crossed!).

What a busy lead up to Springtime!

We have been exceptionally busy for this time of year, and have been able to use our new van, helping to accommodate more moves each week.

Springtime is always a popular time to move house, and we are already looking very busy for the month of March. Please ensure you contact us early on in your moving process, to ensure you have all the information you need, and can keep us up to date with your potential moving dates.

We are looking forward to getting the new van signwritten in the next few weeks - keep your eyes peeled for photos of the whole fleet! Check out our Facebook page for more photos, news and updates!

An adventurous trip to Cornwall!

Our team had quite an adventure when they were moving a customer's belongings to Hayle in Cornwall last weekend. After loading up in Tillingham, including a trailer, they drove over 300 miles to their stop-over hotel in Bodmin. When they were 5 minutes from the hotel, one of the vans broke down on a very steep hill, in a country back road, in the dark!! Luckily we have breakdown cover, and after a few hours got towed to the hotel. The following day the team still delivered the items on time (two trips in the non-broken van), and made the return journey home. The recovery truck bought our broken van back to Essex, and it now needs a new gearbox. So, even with these challenges our team still managed to deliver the goods safely and on time to our customer in Cornwall. Well done team, what an adventure!

We have not only been busy moving people to Cornwall, but lots of local moves too. Half term is coming up, and looking to be a busy time to move house!

Great news! We have purchased another Luton van to add to our fleet, meaning we can accommodate even more moves! Hooray! Onwards and upwards...

New year, new home?

Happy New Year everyone!

We have started the year off with lots of quotes and January is looking very busy. To start 2019 off we have already had moves in London, Brentwood, Witham and Chelmsford! If you are thinking of moving home in 2019, why not give us a call for a free, no obligation quote.

On Saturday 5th January, our teams were out and about collecting and recycling Christmas Trees for Farleigh Hospice. A big thank you and well done to our teams, and to all the other local businesses and volunteers for this event. Altogether a massive £28,000 was raised for Farleigh Hospice!

Here's to a wonderful 2019!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

A big thank you to all of our staff, who as always, have worked very hard throughout the year.

Don't forget to give us a wave if you see us collecting and recycling Christmas Trees for Farleigh Hospice on Saturday 5th January!

Keeping busy and feeling festive!

We have been super busy in the run up to Christmas! We have had lots of local moves, some with packing services, and some without. Lots of customers moved into their new homes before the big day, and plenty more to fit in yet!! In 2017 we moved a customer to Dundee, Scotland, and now he is moving back before Christmas. Mr O loves his travels, so he is off to Scotland again soon!

We have been feeling festive this week by taking part in the local Church's Christmas Tree Festival. We enjoyed taking part last year, and have once again donated to decorate a lovely real Christmas Tree in aid of Farleigh Hospice. In true Mr O style, we have decorated our tree with tiny vans, keys, boxes and houses! What a great way to bring the local businesses, schools and community together whilst raising money for a great cause :)

Mr O on his travels...

We hope you have all been enjoying Half Term. Mr O and the team have been on their travels this week! On Monday Mr O went to Derby, on Wednesday Mr O went to the Lake District and on Friday Mr O went to Evesham in Gloucestershire! That's certainly a lot of miles and one way to see the different places in the UK! We hope our customers enjoy their new homes in their new locations.

We are looking busy up until Christmas, don't waste any time in obtaining a free quote for your removal. Always best to have received your quote to be prepared, rather than rushing last minute with limited availability.

Mr O and the team have signed up to take part in the wonderful Christmas Tree Recycling Collection in January, to help raise money for Farleigh Hospice. Why not sign up to have your tree recycled after Christmas? Check Farleigh Hospice website for details.

Enjoy the rest of Half Term, and Halloween coming up too. We also have our two youngest children's Birthdays next week too, so it's all go in the 'O' household!!

Wine Tasting Evening a Success!

A big thank you to everyone who supported our Wine Tasting Evening last Friday. We were taking part in the Birkett Long £50 Challenge, to raise money for St Helena Hospice. We raised £200.12!!

We thoroughly enjoyed the evening, hosted by Stephen Heminway from Peter Watts Wines, and held at The Lock Tea Rooms in Heybridge. Thank you to the local businesses who donated some wonderful raffle prizes too!

Thank you for your support everyone - check out the photo in the Gallery!

Busy Summer, Good news and Wine Tasting.

What a wonderfully busy Summer we have had, moving our customers to all different locations and properties. We have travelled all the way to Lincolnshire, Lowestoft and Kew Gardens over the Summer, as well as all over Essex. We have moved some lovely customers, and hope they all enjoy their new homes.

We received some brilliant news this week... we are Finalists in the Essex Business Excellence Awards 2018 for Customer Service!! This is fantastic news, and we are so pleased to be in the Top 3! We will be attending a Champagne and Canapes evening next week, to meet the fellow finalists and sponsors of the event. Then the Awards ceremony will be held on 2nd October. Fingers crossed!

Not long now until our Wine Tasting Evening! We are looking forward to hosting our event (details below). We still have tickets left, so please contact us to attend. A big thank you to the following companies who have donated prizes for our raffle: Perrywoods, Poplar Nurseries, BS Blooms in Tiptree, Stoke-By-Nayland Hotel and Leisure World in Colchester.

We look forward to seeing you all there, and we will let everyone know how much we raise for St Helena Hospice.

We now have the details of our event which we will be holding for our £50 Challenge in aid of St Helena Hospice! We will be holding a Wine Tasting evening on Friday 14th September, 7.00-.9.30pm at The Lock TeaRoom in Heybridge.

We would appreciate any donations for raffle prizes. Thank you for your support!

Hot, Hot, Hot!!

Well what a wonderful Summer we have had so far! The team isn't sure which is harder, to move house in the freezing cold with snow, or the boiling hot with sun! Either extreme is very challenging for our team, who do exeptionally well to cope with moving our customers whatever the weather!

Well we attended The National Family Business Awards at Wembley Stadium last week, we were disappointed not to win, but we did have a fantastic evening, meeting family businesses from all over the UK.

The Summer is looking very busy for us with lots of moves booked in for the next few weeks. Please don't leave your quotation until the last minute! Contact us in advance to ensure you have all the details you need prior to your moving date.

We are still working on our plans for a fundraising event... details to be announced soon!

Keep safe in the sun!

Nearly Awards time!

Not long now until we attend the National Family Business Awards at Wembley Stadium! This Awards Cermony is being held on Saturday 14th July... we are nominated for three categories - Big Heart, Customer Service and Small Business... keep your fingers crossed everyone!!

We have had a very busy few weeks, with lots of different moves. We have moved our customers to Harrow, Bocking, Braintree, Chelmsford and Cambridge. Our team have been working very hard in the lovely sunshine, moving house in a heatwave is no easy task! Well done team!

Enjoy the sunshine everyone!

Off to Wales...

After a fantastic family holiday in Dorset - (including beaches, crabbing and lots of fun!), we were back straight into a busy week last week, with moves in Colchester, Tiptree and Maldon.

This coming week, the team are moving a previous customer all the way to Borth, in Wales!

As well as local moves, we move customers all over the UK - soon to be covering Europe too!

We have a busy few weeks coming up, and not many dates left! Don't leave your removal quote until the last minute, and speak to us during the progress of your sale and completion to ensure that we can accommodate your moving date.

A big Happy Birthday to Mr O, who's Birthday it is on 24th June!

Fantastic Fundraising!

On Saturday 2nd June we were honoured and delighted to join forces with our friend Jodie Barden, to raise £160 for Amy and Friends Charity at our Coffee and Cake morning! Thank you so much to everyone that supported us, came along, donated and of course baked and bought cakes along, for Jodie's two very special little girls Ella and Chloe. Both Ella and Chloe have a syndrome called Cockayne Syndrome, which is a life-limiting disease. They are beautiful little girls who love cuddles! If you would like to donate to this wonderful cause, please click here. We will hopefully be arranging some more fundraisers for Ella and Chloe in the future.

Thank you for your support.

Just a quick note to say that Richard, Louise and family will be on holiday between 9th - 16th June. We are off to Dorset for our family holiday, fingers crossed for sunshine.

Our team are ready to continue moving our customers whilst we are away, and the office will still be open. We will endeavour to call people back as soon as we can, however, you may receive a faster response by email Thank you for your understanding.

Happy Bank Holiday!

It's Bank Holiday once again! We hope you all enjoy the forecasted sunshine.

We have had a busy few weeks, with lots of moves. We successfully completed a very difficult 3 day pack and move to storage, along with moves in Witham, Ipswich, Dovercourt, Leavenheath, Chelmsford and Wickham Bishops. June is looking busy too!

Richard and Louise had a Skype Interview to be judged for the National Family Business Awards, which is being held at Wembley Stadium in July. Fingers crossed everyone!

As you all may be aware, the new GDPR regulations come into force on 25th May 2018. We are all prepared and have updated our Privacy Policy, which can be found here.

We are really looking forward to our fundraising event for our friends Ella and Chloe on Saturday 2nd June. We hope you will be able to come and join us for a slice of cake and a cuppa, all raising funds for Amy and Friends Charity, for children with Cockayne Syndrome. Our event is being held at Southview school in Witham between 10.30am - 12.30pm. See you there!

Sunshine at last!

It's finally sunny outside! It's so much better moving house when the sun is shining, than in the pouring rain, or even snow!

We have been busy with lots of local moves. We have also had to deal with our very old, original Mr O Luton van giving up the ghost. He did well for us, and stood the test of time being a 1993 model! We now have a nice newer Luton to add to our fleet. The painting and sign writing will be next...

We are busy arranging our next charity event, which will support Amy and Friends charity, on behalf of our friend's two little girls. They have a life-limiting syndrome called Cockayne Disease. On Saturday 2nd June, Amy and Friends are holding a worldwide event called 'Butterfly Cakes and Kisses Afternoon Tea'. Along with our friend Jodie, we will be arranging a coffee and cake morning to raise awareness and funds for this wonderful charity. Further details to follow soon.

Enjoy the lovely sunshine everyone!

Happy Easter Everyone!

Wishing you all a lovely Easter!

Richard is out and about for quotes and box deliveries on Good Friday, and the rest of the three days, we will be meeting up with family and keeping the children entertained whilst trying to avoid the rains showers! Good old British weather!

We have been busy last week with moves in Copford, Braintree and Coggeshall. As usual the team worked well together, even in the pouring rain! Lots more happy customers moved into their new homes.

In the next couple of weeks we have moves booked in Chelmer Village, Little Leighs Chelmsford and Panfield. It looks as though April and May will be very busy. Springtime is a great time of year to move house, just in time for Summer (hopefully!).

We are busy planning our next charity event, which will be in aid of Amy and Friends, for our friend's children who have a life-limiting illness. We raised £300 for them last year, and look forward to helping them raise awareness and funds to support their charity. Details to follow soon.

Thank you!

On Saturday 24th March we held our fundraising event for local animal charity SESAW (Suffolk and Essex Small Animal Welfare). We raised a fantastic £97.00 for the animals, along with lots of donations of animal food, bedding and even items which the charity can sell at their events. A very big thank you to everyone who donated and supported us, what a fantastic achievement.

To find out more about SESAW, or how to adopt an animal, please visit their website at

Family Awards and Snow Chaos!

We are glad to see the back of the snow this week, which proved challenging for our team, who were still able to complete moves during the whole week. The team moved customers within Colchester, within Maldon, from Chelmsford to Highams Park and from Tiptree to Feering. Despite the weather conditions, our team worked hard to ensure we still continued to provide the best customer service possible. Well done team for a challenging week! Roll on Spring now!

This week we have been informed that we have been nominated for 3 Awards in the National Family Business Awards. We are nominated in the Customer Service, Big Heart, and Small Business Categories. The awards event is being held in July... fingers crossed!

Not long now until our Big Collection for local animal charity SESAW - please come and support us at Kelvedon Co-op on Saturday 24th March, or any donations would be gratefully received

Thank you for your support.

Meeting Theo Paphitis from Dragons Den!

On Friday 23rd February, Mr O travelled up to the ICC in Birmingham for the SBS Winners Event. He thoroughly enjoyed the day, which was inspiring, informative and featured special talks from top company businessmen such as Mr O collected our Winners Certificate, and even met Theo Paphitis! Mr O also met up with our friend, and fellow SBS Winner, Nigel from Secret Hamper. What a great day! There are a few photos on the Gallery page.

In other news, Louise visited St Helena Hospice in Colchester. She met up with Sarah from their fundraising team, had a tour around their lovely building, and found out about all the fantastic work that the voluteers and staff do there. An extremely inspiring visit indeed. After completing the St Helena Hospice £50 Challenge successfully last year (raising £275.00), we are looking forward to taking part again this year, and raising even more money for this fantastic, worthy cause. The £50 Challenge launches in the Summer, more details to follow then.

Fundraising for Local Animal Charity...

Recently Louise went to visit local Animal Charity SESAW (Suffolk and Essex Small Animal Welfare). She was made to feel very welcome, and got to have a grand tour! She got to see all sorts of animals that the charity take in - not only dogs and cats, but rabbits, pigs, chickens, ducks, horses, pigeons, peacocks ... you name it, they have it, or have helped it in the past! It is a fantastic animal welfare charity, where the owner Maggie, and her team of volunteers make a huge difference to these animals lives. To find out more about this wonderful charity, or if you are looking to rehome an animal please visit their website:

We have decided that we would like to raise money and awareness for this charity. So on Saturday 24th March, Mr O Removals will be fundraising in the Co-op in Kelvedon between 10.00am - 4.00pm. We will also have a collection for any donations on this day. Donations that are needed are dog/ cat/ kitten food, cat litter, linen, newspapers etc. Please support us in our fundraising efforts for this fantastic cause. We have set up a Just Giving page, and any donations for the charity would be so gratefully received.

Converted Churches, Peacocks and Previous Customers...

Since the start of the year our team have been busy with a variety of moves, including a wonderful converted Church in Edmonton, and a fantastic coach-house in Messing, with lots of peacocks wandering in the grounds! In January, we moved a number of previous customers - including a lady that we had previously moved twice before!

Louise went to visit a wonderful animal charity in Leavenheath, called Sesaw (Suffolk and Essex Small Animal Welfare). She was made to feel very welcome, and saw all the gorgeous animals and the brilliant work that the owner Maggie, and all the volunteers do. We will be raising money for this fantastic cause soon - more details to follow.

It looks set to be a busy half term for us, with lots of moves booked in. As the Spring gets closer, lots of people start thinking about moving house. Please let us know if you, or anyone you know would like a free, no obligation quote.

Don't forget that we are on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram - follow us to keep up to date!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! We hope you all had a lovely Christmas.

We have been starting the year off with a move to Norfolk, and a 2 day Pack and Move in Tiptree last week. We are already looking forward to Spring, and usually a very busy time for us. On Saturday 6th January our teams went around Maldon, Heybridge and Chelmsford collecting and recycling Christmas trees, in aid of Farleigh Hospice. We were so pleased to help out, and Farleigh Hospice raised £19,000 from everyone who made a donation and had their Christmas Tree collected. Well done to all involved, this is a fantastic amount, for such a brilliant cause. We are already looking forward to next year (probably still be finding the pine needles in the vans!!). There are some photos in the gallery - check them out!

In February Richard will be attending the Theo Paphitis #SBS Winners Event in Birmingham. This is a great day of networking, and even getting to meet Theo himself! Stay tuned for photos and to see how he got on!

We wish you all a lovely Christmas, and a very Happy New Year 2018.

Feeling Festive!

We have been rather busy over at Mr O Removals! The team went all the way to Kilmarnock in #Scotland last week, battling through treacherous icy and snowy conditions! I'm glad to report everyone made it back safely, and they seem to have bought the colder weather with them! #thanksboys

We attended another Awards Ceremony this week, this one was for the Essex Business Excellence Awards, and we were in the top 3 Finalists for the Sales and Marketing Category. Unfortunately we didn't win, but once again were proud to have been in the top 3! #keeptrying

A big Congratulations to Hamilton Piers Estate Agents who beat us to the top spot :)

This week we have been over to St Luke's Church in Tiptree to decorate our Christmas Tree, for the first Christmas Tree Festival, in aid of #FarleighHospice. We got creative and decorated it with tiny boxes, tiny keys, tiny vans and bubblewrap bows!! Take a look at the photos in the Gallery. Even better, why not pop along to see all the lovely trees decorated by local businesses and community groups. #tiptree #Christmastreefestival #Farleighhospice

This year we are taking part in the very first Christmas Tree Festival at St Luke's Church in Tiptree, in aid of #FarleighHospice.

The festival is being held from 9.00am on Friday 1st December until 4.00pm on Sunday 10th December. Lots of local businesses donate to decorate a Christmas Tree to go on display, with proceeds going towards St Luke's Church and Farleigh Hospice. Farleigh Hospice arrange for the public to have their Christmas Tree collected on 6th and 7th January 2018, for a minimim donation of £5.00. The trees are chipped and used in local parks, last year they raised a huge £12,000 for Farleigh Hospice!!! This year we would like to help, so Richard, Mark and Keiron will be out and about collecting Christmas Trees in our vans on 6th January.

Why not have your Tree collected? Registration details are on Farleigh Hospice website. We really hope that lots of money is rasied this year - we will keep you posted!

More good news! We have recently found out that we are Finalists (top 3!) in the Sales and Marketing Category of the Essex Business Excellence Awards 2017!

So this means more evenings out for us! Firstly we are invited to a Champagne and Canapes Evening on 8th November, before the ceremony on 29th November. Keep your fingers crossed for us, we will keep you posted!

Awards Ceremonies ...

We have been out and about these last couple of weeks! We attended the Countywide Essex Business Awards at Cliffs Pavillion on Friday 6th October. We were nominated for Social Media of the Year. We had a great night out, and the winner of our category was a talented lady who also won in this category last year. Well done and Congratulations to BuBakes!

On Tuesday 17th October we attended another Awards presentation evening for the Birkett Long £50 St Helena Hospice Challenge. This was held at Birkett Long's very smart new offices in Colchester.

During the challenge this Summer we raised £275.88 for St Helena Hospice, and collected our Award (photos in the Gallery).

Overall 28 Businesses took part in the Challenge this year, and collectively raised over £29,000 for St Helena Hospice - what a great achievement! We will definitely take part again next year, and hope to raise even more money for such a great cause - a big well done to everyone who took part, and to everyone who voluteered, took part and helped us in our Challenge this year.

How to move in these summer showers

House removal is stressful enough without having to deal with other difficulties such as the weather albeit commercial moving or moving to a new house. But it’s summer, it isn’t supposed to rain- wrong! Unfortunately living in the UK means we always have to be prepared for all types of weather, so we’ve come up with some top tips for maneuvering around these drizzly summer showers and keeping your things dry whilst getting on with your house removal.

Packing your belongings

There are lots of different things you can do to protect your most precious possessions from rain damage. A good starting point would be to opt for plastic boxes as opposed to cardboard, using bubble wrap and other waterproof materials to wrap your belongings in and also using plastic bags or bin liners. You can also pack your belongings in ‘categories’ or organize them by materials. You could then label the boxes so you know what definitely must not get wet i.e. paper documents, mattresses, clothing etc. and separate them from other belongings that can get wet and will still be safe.

Protecting yourself and your family

Rainy days equals slippery floors and this can then lead to risky injuries and accidents. The best way to avoid this is by taking care, not running and wearing the correct footwear. Also remember not to carry anything too heavy as this may potentially knock your balance and you may be more likely to fall which is definitely not what you want. Another cool tip would be to use cardboard cutouts to create a path from your house to the removal van. Not only will this keep you off the slippery floor, but it will also help prevent walking muddy footprints into your home.

Prep your new home for your arrival

Rainy weather can also mean chilly weather, so it might be a good idea to make sure you have the utilities switched on ready for the heating or even to pop on the kettle. Don't forget to ask us about our popular Carpet Protection to prevent dirty footprints and protect it from placing down dirty boxes.

Last words of advice

If you’ve got that feeling that it will rain on the day, remember to keep checking the weather from 1 week before the move so you can be prepared to go and grab some extra supplies. Not being prepared will only make things more difficult and put extra stress on you that can easily be prevented. Also doing anything in the rain will always take longer, so make sure that moving home is going to be your only chore of the day and that you get up nice, bright and early to make good use of your time. And finally, you can book everything but the weather, so just remember to stay calm, be prepared and try to have fun with it! Alternatively, give our friendly and affordable removal service company a call to completely take on the responsibility of your move. We're a reliable and trustworthy removal company based in Essex and we cover a range of areas such as Tiptree, Danbury, Chelmsford, Colchester and many, many more!

How to move house with young children

So you’ve got your little one with you and you’re faced with the huge tasks of moving house. Nethertheless, you must still deal with it, after all they are probably the main reason you are moving if you are upsizing. So how do you keep them entertained if you’re going to be busy all day? Keep on reading to find out some of the best ways to keep your children happy whilst cracking on with moving home.

Food, sweets and treats

Kids love food, there’s no question of that so make sure you have some food ready for them whenever they start to whine about being hungry. Often moving can consist of lots of ready meals and quick easy dinners, but this cannot be the case if you have a little one. Remember to prepare some of their favorite foods or usual snacks to stay in routine as much as possible and keep them happy. Also moving into a new bedroom in a strange new house might be overwhelming for them and hard for them to understand, so spoiling them a little with treats will comfort them.

Allow time for them

Yes, you will be busy, but that is no excuse to neglect your child. Try to spread the workload over a few days before you move i.e. packing things away days before and setting things up so that you can take breaks on the moving day with your child to take them out to the park or even a little bit of playtime with their favorite toys. There are lots of local parks in Essex whether your based in Tiptree, Danbury or Chelmsford.

Pack a day bag

Make sure you have all the essentials handy for the day whatever it is you need. Whether this be their favorite blanket, toy or bottle, it is you who will suffer if you have already packed it up away in the removal van. Remember to organize this the day before so that you have everything they will need to comfort them on the day of the move.

Pack up their room last

Try as best you can to pack up their bedroom last as this way they can have all their favorite toys and entertainment whilst you’re busy with the move. This is also very useful as it will mean that their belongings will be at the front when you shut up and open the moving van, so they will have the least amount of time possible without their things.

Keep calm

And lastly keep calm! It may be a stressful day, but if you let your child see this, it will only transfer your stress onto them and they will not be settled throughout the day. Try to stay chilled and enjoy this wonderful milestone for you and your family. Mr. O Removals is a friendly and reliable removal service and packing service based in Essex, however we help people move all over the nation and will help you make your move easier and less stressful.

The University Checklist

So you’ve been studying hard, completed all your exams and got into university- congratulations! But now you have to move there and organize all the things you need to take with you before you leave. We’ve set up a university checklist to give you the break you deserve so you can just simply pack up and go when it’s time to fly the nest.

Bedroom Bits

Duvet sets, photo frames, rugs, blankets, speakers and all those fun, quirky and personal items you just couldn’t live without. Moving out of your own home can be quite upsetting to part with all your loved possessions so try to make your dorm room as personalized and have as much ‘you’ in it as possible without bringing too much.

Bathroom Necessities

You don’t need to pack all your soaps, lotions and smellies for the trip as you can save baggage space by buying it all near the uni, but it would be handy to take a couple of bits to get you started. Also remember things such as a towel and a first aid kit would also come in handy.

Kitchen Essentials

So you’re going to have to learn to cook if you haven’t already, but you are going to need some utensils. Even if you’re catered, the university may be short of appliances so make sure you’ve got a decent variety of things including crockery, cutlery, utensils (spatula, scissors, wooden spoons etc.), pots and pans, baking tray, tupperware and of course a toastie machine for a quick easy snack on those lazy Sunday study sessions.

The Boring Stuff

Oh yeah, uni is for studying not partying, so you should probably get some books and stationary for those ‘study’ nights in. Also remember to pack things such as your passport, driving licence or other form of ID, certificates of education, acceptance letter, student loan confirmation and anything else you find to be important. Your NHS Medical number and a cheque book would also be useful.

Just remember that home will only be a short train ride or even a short flight home, so no need to worry if you have forgotten anything-it’s not like you won’t ever be going home again! Just remember to relax and enjoy your time embarking on this amazing milestone. If you need assistance with your university move in or out of Essex, it could be the University of Essex in Colchester or Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford, whereever it is give Mr. O Removals today for a quick quote.

How to find a place to live after you’ve graduated

University is now over and it’s likely that you have graduated (congratulations), but this also means you have to move out of your apartment with your friends and move back home. Now although going back home for some quality family time might seem ideal, you have probably gotten used to your own space and your own rules, so it’s now time to really fly the nest and move out…for good! But where do you go and how do you afford it? Well read on and hear all about Mr. O’s top tips for trying to find affordable places in Essex to live. We offer removal services all over Essex whether its Chelmsford to Tiptree or Danbury to Colchester, wherever it is remember to give us a call for a quick quote or drop us an email

Research, research and more research

There are so many different areas in Essex all different price ranges and environments. We are quite fortunate to live in a county with beaches, countryside and on top of that quick access to the city. Whatever it is your looking for, you will definitely find it in Essex, so try researching different areas and discover what is the best area for you and what are your priorities i.e. having a garden, living close to the station or having a beautiful rural view from the bedroom window.

Consider sharing

When you were at uni, the chances are that you were probably sharing a living space, so it won’t be a big shock and invasion of your privacy if you’re used to it. Renting and moving out is expensive so why not consider splitting the cost with a friend or a group of friends to help save money. Alternatively, run the idea past your partner and you can embark on a brand-new adventure and settle down in your new little pad.

Find a job

A little obvious we know, but it is vital that you can be certain that you can afford to keep up the payments to avoid getting in even more debt. With your new degree under your belt, employers will hopefully be snapping up new graduates so make sure you get out there and seek every opportunity possible so that you can secure your job to afford your new home.

Whatever path you decide to take in your next steps, remember that here at Mr. O Removals, we are a friendly, family run removal company based in TipTree and we cover (but aren't limited to) Chelmsford removals, Colchester removals, Maldan removals and more! We can assist you with all that you need to make your house transition easier and less stressful, so good luck to you and again, congratulations on graduating!

Why you should move to Essex

As a local removal company in Essex, we help people move in, out and around the county as part of our work and we thought we would share some of the best things about moving and living in Essex to help you decide on your next location to live. And yes, there is move to us than TOWIE.

Quick route to London

With London only being up the road, you get the cheaper and more affordable housing in Essex, whilst still being able to take a short train ride to the big city. Living in Essex also offers the advantage of a slower pace and more of a community feel than the busy streets of London, yet not too slowed down like right in the countryside, so it has the perfect balance of hustle and bustle and a friendly community.

Piers, beaches and sea sides

Not only is Essex home to the longest pier in the world at Southend, but it also offers beautiful views and beaches such as Frinton on Sea, Walton on the naze and Mersea Island. The pier measures up at a whopping 1.3 miles and if you have ever watched Jamie Oliver’s programme, Jamie and Jimmy’s Friday Night Feast on channel 4, you will notice that it is located at the end of the pier where the likes of big celebrities such as Usain Bolt, Orlando Bloom and Kate Hudson have visited.

Probably the best shopping mall in the whole of the south, intu Lakeside offers the ultimate shopping experience with over 250 stores, 50 restaurants and cafés and even a cinema! It’s located just off the a13 and close to the m25 in the very southwest of the country.

Our attractions are perfect for the whole family with entertainment including places like Colchester Zoo, the Secret Nuclear Bunker, Adventure Island and Old MacDonald’s Farm. These attractions are ideal for a family day out, great for the kids (and even adults too!) Alternatively, if you’re looking for something more appropriate for adults, Essex has lots of theatres including Queens theatre and Palace theatre, not to mention umpteen restaurants, bars and clubs in ever town in Essex.

If you’re a big holiday-goer, good news for you. London airports can be stressful and full of long queues, waiting and often disappointment with cancelled flights, but not to fear as Southend airport is a great airport, which has recently just expanded and travels to 32 different destinations including Venice and Malta.

So there you have it! Essex has lots to offer, so if you’re thinking of moving here, make sure to give us a call at Mr. O Removals and we can help you make that easy transition into your new home. We cover various different areas in Essex including removals in Chelmsford, Tiptree, Danbury, Witham and many more. How to successfully move your commercial business to a new location

Office removals can be diffucult to arrange even if you're the most organised person you know. If you happen to be struggling with how to start with the project, not to worry- Mr O Removals is a trusty and reliable commercial removal company in Essex covering all areas. So, the first thing you need to organize after you have secured your new premises is whether or not you will be hiring a removal company. We didn’t think so, that’s why here at Mr. O Removals we can do all the planning, organizing and moving for your office to make sure you’re covered and the stress is taken off from your shoulders. Commercial removals require careful planning and logistics, which is what we can do, so give us a call today for a quick quote or friendly consultation.

Prepare your employees

This will be a big change for them as well as you, so make sure that you keep everyone in the loop with the moving process to prepare them and keep them organized. It is also a good idea to adopt the ‘business as usual approach’ to make sure they maintain productivity and try to avoid any distractions. This will keep your employees composed during the moving process and appreciative of your honesty. Motivation is also key with any office move, so remember to think of tactics to keep your team on the ball and continue to work at the current level of professionalism.

Update you details

Remember that all your old numbers and addresses will be on your business cards, websites and adverts so make sure that your updating your address and phone number to avoid any confusion. It will also be a good idea to update these details on any insurance policies and also with other partnerships/clients you may be involved with.

Last checks

And lastly other tips include checking with your new premises to see if they would allow you to move during the workday hours. If you are moving to a shared office building, other companies will be busy working so you may have to be prepared to move outside office hours. Also make sure you haven’t forgotten anything at the old office and also that you have organized your furniture in accordance with the new floor plan so that you aren’t spending ages trying to organize where everything is going to go.

So there you have it, our top tips for moving your office location. Just remember to give Mr. O Removals a call to make it easier for you, your employees and just generally make the transition easier. We are a reliable and affordable  commercial removal service in Essex that covers both house removals and commercial moves so get in contact now for a quick quote or a friendly consultation.

How to move pets into your new home

Pets can get stressed just like humans, which is why it’s very important to make sure you stay calm, keep them organized and make all the preparations necessary to make the move as easy as possible.

Dogs are known for being intuitive, so you need to make sure you behave in a calm and collected manner as if you don’t, your dog will sense this and it will start to make them worry and become distressed. Make sure you have their favorite toys or bedding out still, so they can use this as a distraction or comfort whilst your busy moving things out of the house. You could even use the tactic of keeping them out in the garden for the majority of the time (if it’s not cold) as they can have a good run around whilst being completely oblivious to all the drama inside the house. Lastly you need to make sure the new house is appropriate for your dog i.e. is the new garden secure and is there a gate to avoid them running away.

Cats are much more difficult as they are harder to track and handle in terms of where they wander off to. This is definitely a worry when it comes to being in your new home as it can mean they may get lost or even wander back to the old house (if it’s close by). After you have moved into the new house, it might be a good idea to keep them inside more than usual so that they can build a relationship with new house and start to pick up the familiar smells and scents. Additionally, you could get your cat a collar with a number and the new address or even get them microchipped so they can be returned back to you in case of getting lost. Lastly, food is also a great way to familiarize your cat with the new home by banging the food tins when calling them or using strong smelling foods so that they can smell the food and it will entice them back home.

Smaller animals

Dogs and cats are definitely the animals that need the most fuss and attention when moving, so smaller animals will be much easier to transfer by using portable cages and carriers. However, you shouldn’t neglect them completely as they will still pick up on different behaviors and smells, so remember to comfort them with some treats and some attention. Smaller animals such as guinea pigs and hamsters like to be sheltered and hide in dark areas so make sure you have something in there for them to scurry into. This will make them feel protected and t would also be a good idea to place them in a quiet room until you’re ready to get in the car and leave. Fish also need to be considered when moving, as they will have to be put into bags separate from their tank. It is recommended that you double bag them in case one breaks and also put them in a dark area to reduce stress. And lastly birds- birds can be placed into a portable cage with something for them to sit on, nibble on and a little toy for them to play with.

So those are Mr. O Removals’ tips for making the moving transition easier for you animals. Just remember to make sure they all have plenty of food and water and give them attention on the day so they do not feel neglected or distressed. As Mr. O Removals is a friendly family business, we understand the needs of animals, so we will gladly take on more responsibility and tasks to let you comfort your animals during the process. Or of course, if somebody offers to look after them for the day, you can definitely take them up on it as this will make everything easier for you and your animals.

Essential security checks for your new house

You finally done it- you’ve moved, unpacked and if you used Mr. O Removal service, you are probably feeling a lot less stressed and relaxed now that it is all over. However, you do need to think about going over some essential safety checks to ensure your new home is a secure home.

Unless you’re moving into a new build or a rented property, you should probably look into getting the locks changed as there were multiple different residents living in your home before you, which is a big security risk if they were to have any set of keys. To avoid jeopardizing your home, be safe and change the locks.

Frame stability, single glazing or dodgy locks. These are all features of unsecure windows, meaning that anybody could break in and steal your precious possessions. If there are any factors such as these that indicate that they are not safe, your best option is to either fix them or look into getting replaced.

People often switch off alarms for going off too much or driving the neighbor’s crazy, but this doesn’t mean that you should switch them off. If they go off too often, maybe you should look into changing the setting, fixing it or even replacing it. Alarms are invented to protect us from our houses being burgled, and god forbid if it were the case that you got burgled, you’d definitely regret having it switched off.

So, remember to stay safe and make all those extra checks to ensure you have the best experience and great memories in your new home. We are a reliable and affordable removal company in Tiptree that covers both commercial moves and home removals all over Essex, so whatever you need assistance with, we can help you ensure you make those essential safety checks. How to successfully move the contents of your garden

If you care a lot for your garden, it’s probably likely that although your excited to move, you’re dreading the fact that you have to leave your garden behind. But not to worry, we at Mr. O Removals can help you with sharing our top tips to save as much of your garden as possible and also physically help with the transition.

Even though outdoor ornaments are more robust than indoor ones, they are still prone to breakage and for this reason you need to make sure they are as protected as possible. Wrap them as you would wrap a delicate vase or other indoor delicates and you will be sure that they will be safe.

Plant pots and hanging baskets

These are much easier to transport as they can stay in their own pots/baskets. However, we do recommend that you still cover them just to protect your other household items from getting dirty or getting soil and leaves on them. Alternatively, if you could read our blog post on how to protect your plants when moving to see more on how you would transfer plants from the ground.

Patio Furniture

Patio furniture can get quite grubbing especially as it sits outside during the winter season and if this happen to be a time in which you are moving, it could rub off on some on your indoor furniture. Make sure that you give it a good and proper clean before to prevent it dirtying anything. You also will want to protect it from damage, so wrap up any parts of it that would be delicate such as glass to prevent breakage. And lastly make sure you wrap and cover over any sharp edges as this could injure somebody during the transfer.

If you happen to have young children, it is likely that you will have some kind of outdoor apparatus for them to play on/with. If this is the case, you will need to assess whether or not it is worth leaving or bringing with you, as it can take up a lot of space and be time consuming to set up again. If it is quite easy to put down then set up again, it is definitely worth it for your child so make sure that you protect it by wrapping it up in some protective wrapping to avoid damage.

So, there you go, our top tips for an easy garden move. However, if you still require further advice or assistance, Mr. O Removals is a friendly, reliable and affordable removal service in Essex that covers locally and nationally, so give us a call today to find out more!

The best packing materials to use when moving to a new house

Taking down your belongings and possessions is stressful enough, but how do you pack them? Of course you want to keep them protected so Mr. O Removals has compiled a list of different materials that you can use to protect your belongings (a lot of them are probably sitting in your cupboards too!)

Bubble wrap

Okay so let’s start with the obvious. Bubble wrap is great for all those delicate vases and ornaments. It provides a good amount of cushion and protection to prevent smashing and breakage. It is also so accessible and you can find it almost anywhere!

Clothing, towels and Linens

Of course you’re not going to wrap your furniture up in your favorite suit or wedding dress, but any loungewear or old t-shirts are perfect to protect surfaces banging against each other in the van. Linens and towels are also perfect for this as they cover lots of ground, whilst still preserving the quality of your furniture.

Sandwich Bags

You probably saw this title and thought why sandwich bags? But sandwich bags are perfect for all those little screws for your furniture or even to put some bits jewelry such as rings, broaches, badges and earrings.

Might be a bit of an obvious one, but it goes beyond just boxes and bags. Any other cases or baskets you may have in your home you may as well fill with stuff as it will save space in the removal van and it will make the process much quicker.

Twist Ties

These tiny pieces of wire are great to keep your cable cords together or even to tie things up with. Keeping things tied up in the van is essential as you don’t want all your hard work and packing to all fall apart on the bumpy road.

Any scrap paper or old magazines and newspapers are great to scrunch up and use as extra padding

The list could go on and on for different materials to use for your move, both around the house or in the shop. If you need some further advice for packing materials or want us to supply some for you, give Mr. O Removals a call and we would be delighted to assist you with your packing and home removal if your in Essex or anywhere else, we cover both locally and nationally, so get in touch today!

How to Protect Your Plants Whilst Moving

For many of us, plants are our pride and joy. It’s what gives our homes and gardens personality. So when you decide to move house, how do you protect them from being damaged?

Before the Move

Of course, plants are fragile so they’re going to need as much protection and care as possible. If you’re looking to move larger plants, it may be worth pruning them in order to reduce their size- however be mindful, only do this if it’s in season otherwise you may harm your plant.

You also may want to reconsider repotting your plants into lighter substitutes such as plastic containers- this can make it easier for removal men to move them. You will also get a chance to take extra time and care into packing your favourite pots reducing the risk of them getting damaged whilst in transit.

On the Big Day

It’s best to wait to load these onto the van until most of your other possessions are packed. You need to consider that your plants are living things and won’t benefit from being pushed to the back of the van, it’s best to leave them near the door so they are last in and first off. If you’re considering taking smaller plants in a cardboard box, it’s advised that you lay a plastic sheet along the base in order to prevent the bottom of the box from becoming soggy and weak. If you have taller plants such as bamboo, it may be worth investing in wardrobe boxes for that extra layer of protection.

Settling In

Plants should be the first thing you unpack as you want them to be travelling for the shortest period of time. When it comes to unpacking, it’s best to take the box off of the plant rather than taking the plant out of the box- this way you avoid any damage to the plant. Once released from the boxes, provide them with a drink and fresh air and they should be back to their usual self in no time.

So, there you have it! Mr O’s Removals guide to protecting your plants during the big move. If you would like more information or have any questions about the services that we provide, please get in touch on 01621 819 488.

Corporate Moving with Mr O’s Office Removals Essex Service

Moving offices usually involves the packing and transporting of numerous desks, chairs, storage units and boxes of paperwork, that’s why it’s handy to have a team of removal experts on hand to help!

As a removal company Essex, we have a specialist team with years of experience in office removals, meaning we are more than capable of making our customer’s office moves as stress-free as possible.

Last week, we were contacted by a local marketing company in Witham to assist with their office move to Maldon.

In order to understand exactly what our client wanted, we asked them a series of questions on our initial phone call such as the date they planned to move and the items they wanted moving.

Once we had an idea of what the client needed from us, Richard (Mr O himself!), visited the marketing company’s smaller office in Witham to get an idea of the space and how many of his team he would need to use on the moving day to ensure a swift ‘pack and move’ service.

Using this information, Richard and the team worked out a quote for the total removal cost, and emailed the quote over to the client on the same day! All of our quotes contain specific details of the moving day including details of the date, time slot and the costs of each item we are moving. Then all we had to do was wait for the big day!

On Friday morning, we arrived at the Witham office and began moving the items already agreed by the client. Mr O Removals’ team were able to dismantle desks and wrap fragile items such as computers and place them into the van before heading to Maldon. The elderly moving to a new house and assisted living moves

Moving is already stressful enough without the added worry of not being mobile enough to lift or transport your belongings to your new home. Here at Mr O Removals we understand how difficult moving can be both physically and emotionally when it comes to your elderly relatives, so we thought we would offer some tips to try and help make the process just that little bit easier.

Help sort through valuables

Your relatives are likely to have accumulated lots of ‘stuff’ over the years and end up getting quite attached. It’s important these special items are taken care of in transit and with help from Mr O’s during your move you will be able to reassure them of that. It may also be necessary to sort through their possessions if they are downsizing.

Keep Calm

Moving at an older age can cause a lot of uncertainty and upset, especially if they are leaving a family home they have lived in for most of their life with lots of memories. Mr O’s are on hand to ensure the move is as smooth as possible with minimal disruptions so the customer doesn’t feel stressed during the process.

Plan the moving day

Being unsure of what the day will bring and the moving situation can make some people uneasy so it is important to have a plan in place. We’ll help you arrange a time and date for the move that suits all parties, with enough helping hands to ensure you or your elderly relative doesn’t have to do the heavy lifting. For your relative, just knowing a family member will be there on the day to oversee everything may offer some reassurance!

Being a family run business, we understand the importance of keeping your loved ones happy during a very stressful time. Our trained staff have had incredible feedback over the years and everyone is first aid trained, in case of any emergencies or little accidents. We will take the worry out of your hands and you can sit back and relax while we do all the hard work on the day. Get in touch today for a bespoke quote for your needs.

Moving House in Summer: Health and Safety with Mr O Removals

There’s nothing quite like the stress of moving house; boxes everywhere and all your worldly possessions strewn everywhere! So, what could make moving house any worse? The summer heat of course…

With years of experience in the removal industry, we’ve put together our best tips for moving house this summer.

Stay Hydrated

It might be quite obvious but far too many people forget to drink water on moving day which could result in de-hydration and exhaustion. You should be upping your water intake anyway in hot weather but it’s necessary to keep your energy (and spirits) up when you’re going to be active all day!

Keep Kids Entertained

Moving in the summer often means the kids are on the school holidays for six weeks. We suggest having someone look after them for the day to stop any distractions but if you can’t have someone take care of the kids, make sure you have entertainment in place. To avoid tantrums and tears while you try and pack the house up, keep them busy with toys and activities in the garden so you can direct and arrange boxes while they play.

Book an Early Morning Move

To avoid moving at midday at the hottest time of day, book your move in with us for as early as possible. This means our removal team can help transport items while still relatively cool and you’ll be in your new home in no time!

Keep Frozen Food in Coolbox

If you are transferring lots of food from house to house, there’s a chance that this food may belong in the freezer. Instead of wasting the frozen food, keep your food in a large cool box. You can store all the items in there with ice packs and it will help keep the contents chilled.

The last thing anyone wants to be doing on a warm, summer’s afternoon is traipsing back and forth to a van before carrying a load of boxes upstairs. So the team at Mr. O Removals are here to help!

Our Essex Removals team Talk ‘World Environment Day’

World Environment Day is the United Nations’ most important event for raising awareness about how we protect our planet. It all began in 1974 and is now celebrated in over 100 countries.

Most importantly it’s the one day where the population are encouraged to take care of the earth. This can be recognised nationally or locally and that is where the team here at Mr O Removals come in.

One of the biggest contributors to the increasing level of air pollution is the burning of fossil fuels. We believe that using our 5 time award winning service not only benefits you but it also the planet.

So, what can we offer? The services we provide include both domestic and commercial removals. We’re not limited to your location as we can also carry out jobs that are local or nationwide, so you can rest assured that no move is too big! Can you Move House Over a Bank Holiday?

Have you thought about moving house over a bank holiday? If you haven’t, maybe you should consider it; that extra day can be a big help when it comes to unpacking and feeling relaxed in your new home.

The team here at Mr O Removals recommend that you plan well in advance of your chosen date so here are our top tips for moving house on the upcoming bank holidays.

Stagger Moving Chores

Moving house often comes with a number of moving chores that may need staggering over the bank holiday period. If your new house is already empty you should try to get all the necessary utilities i.e. telephone, gas and electric connected before the bank holiday to save you any trouble over the weekend.

Arrange Delivery Times

Due to the bank holiday period, deliveries will be unreliable so you should organise for deliveries for urgent household appliances such as dishwashers, washing machines and cookers to arrive before you move.

Avoid Bank Holiday Road Traffic

Bank holidays are notorious for hectic traffic, particularly on the roads! That means you should factor the busy roads into your moving equation if your new house is far away. We suggest you consider travelling to the new house the night before your official moving date so you can tell your moving company where to unload.

Why pay for a removal company rather than doing it yourself?

When you are moving to a new house it’s easy, especially at the start of the process, to think it will be easier and cheaper to do it yourself. However, as time goes by it can become clear that using a removal company is the more reliable option. Below are just a few of the reasons to use a removal company to relocate:

Eases Stress – It’s easy to say that the moving process is possibly one of the most stressful experiences that you will encounter in your life. There is a reason that people only move once in a decade. Take the added stress of transporting your goods away from your situation and put it into the hands of capable professionals. The last thing you need is to hurt yourself during the move and be unable to unpack for the first few weeks of living in your new home.

Reliable – As much as asking a friend can seem like the more cost effective way of moving, it isn’t necessarily the most reliable solution. Imagine you reach moving day, all ready to go and your friend has to run to an emergency solution or gets caught up with something else. With a reliable company such as Mr O Removals, you can be assured we will be there when you need us, on time and prepared.

Limits damages -  It can be so easy to think that you and your partner will be able to move your belongings and furniture, however our professionals make it look easier than it is. There is an art to moving your entire house into a vehicle and setting it back up into a new location. Especially without incurring damages along the way. At Mr O Removals we have a fantastic track record of minimal damages to any valuables and we promise to look after your property as if it were ours.

We are fully insured, with goods in transit insurance for up to £30,000 and public liability insurance for up to 1 million.

Here at Mr O Removals we offer domestic and commercial removals, locally and nationally. We would be happy to discuss your requirements and offer a free non-obligatory quote.

How to Move House the ‘Mr O Way’

I know what you’re thinking; it’s just packing, right? If you’re an experienced mover, you will know moving to a new house is not as easy as it may seem; you must contact utility companies, clean your entire home before you leave, hire a moving van in advance and let’s not even get started on packing your belongings up!

So how do you pack when you are moving to a new house?

Start Early

From years of experienced packing, we can tell you that moving day will be stressful, so don’t leave everything until the last minute!

Take into account the size of your house and the time you have available to pack everything up. If you have a large house, it will take you just over two months to pack up your entire house – should you pack one box a day! For a smaller home it should only take you a month.

Pack One Room at a Time

Most people neglect this simple packing tip but it is one of the most important tips for moving home. Whether it’s packing boxes or loading the van, make sure you start in a specific room and only move on from that space once you have cleared it! This will help you stay organized, aid in unpacking and let the movers know where the boxes go.

Label Your Boxes

This is a job you can rope the kids into to save a little bit of time and keep them occupied! Make sure to label your boxes of their contents and what room they should go in, in order to give the movers an idea of where to put your boxes and for your future reference. Mr O suggest using a different colour sticker or pen for every room in the home to make it even easier to work out where they go.

Put Heavier Boxes at the Bottom

While it may be common sense, it often gets forgotten, resulting in damage and breakages to your special items. In order, to prevent this, put your heavier boxes underneath the lighter boxes to make sure you breakable items aren’t damaged in the move.

If you’re struggling to do all this by yourself, why not ask for the help of Mr O Removal’s team? We provide everything you will need during moving day, from dismantling and reassembling to full house removals. For more information, contact 01621 819488 or email for your quote.
